<p>Once more he awakes and sits up, the weariness still tugging at his
shoulders. For what seems the thousandth time, he reaches out tentatively
with his weakened power and gently tests the space around him. Joy sings
in him as it gives way effortlessly to his thoughts and before him the
laboratory of his former master begins to take shape. As though a pebble
rippling through water, the place of his apprenticeship forms in exquisite
detail. Overcome, the robed figure steps forward and leans heavily on the
workbench, the squawk of the raven atop his oaken perch and the heady aroma
of sandalwood curling up from the copper bowl...success at last.</p>
<p>The research done, the spells cast and the furnishings
in place, Rondak is finally ready to receive his first visitors - guests who
will soon know that his home more a portal and they more citizens than guests.</p>
